A little privacy.
Just two files.

Generate the essentials for Apache password protection. Enter your credentials, then save the two files to your server.

01 Set your credentials

The full filesystem path on your hosting server, outside the public website folder. Not a URL.

No uploads. No storage. Works offline.

Put them in place

  1. Save .htaccess in the folder to protect. If one exists, merge these rules into it.
  2. Save .htpasswd at the exact server path above, outside the public folder. Apache must be able to read it.
  3. Use HTTPS. Your Apache host must support bcrypt and permit authentication rules in .htaccess (AllowOverride AuthConfig).
